The Wise Owl Awards function PART 1 : An Ode to the Men in their inspiring Head gear.
A little bird chirps in my ears that it is Women's History Month- well, I insist, Women's Day cannot be restricted to just one day or month. It is every day of the year. Every moment is Women's Day, just as every moment is also Men's Day- the men who casually take the passenger seat, while the women drive; men who watch on indulgently as the woman sneaks out of bed at midnight to jot down the latest idea that has started churning in her mind; men who patiently set the technical glitches right, while the writer women writhe, wring their hands in impotent rage and throw tantrums [ I do !]; men who quietly throw away the burnt vegetables, while the creative cauldron of their writer wives bubbles away, or discreetly look the other way when the cauldron is about to suffer a fiery annihilation ...
I am reminded of the words my granny often used to say:
"Behind women writers, you will always find a band of men sporting different headgear."
You never heard this?
Well, I did.
So here we are face to face with three men, very important in their own fields, who have willingly, lovingly- [not uxoriously]taken the back seats, so that their wives can stay in the limelight!
Every note of disharmony is banished by their disarming smiles- and harmony prevails!
So, let us raise a toast to these men, not in their flying machines, but in their inspiring headgear!
THREE CHEERS FOR ALL HATS, CAPS, AND TURBANS- AND THE MEN ATTACHED TO THEM!
THREE CHEERS FOR MEN WHO ALLOW THEIR WIVES TO BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY COMFORTABLE IN THEIR IMPERFECTIONS, EVEN TRYING TO MATCH THEIR SO-CALLED UNLADYLIKE GUFFAWS, WITH GORGEOUS GRINS!
Dr Harmeet Singh- the Founding Editor of The Wise Owl, and Dr. Rachna Singh's husband, who, together with Dr. Rachna Singh managed to make the event a tremendous success, which soon became the talk of the town.
Their attention to the minutest detail, their hospitality, and their personal touch was awe-inspiring. Kudos!
Col. Sukhvinder Singh Swarn- Lily Swarn's husband, who smilingly drives her to all literary soirees and fests, while she beamingly picks up the awards!
Lalit Magazine - My husband, a writer in his own right, whose 'Middles' in Maharashtra Herald were hugely popular in the late 90's.
Successfully hiding his frowns and leaving his comfort zone behind, he accompanied me to Chandigarh, as I had sprained my ankle!
By the way, he just finished giving the finishing touches to a very intriguing thriller, which will hit the market soon; all due to the inspiring aura of our room in Foothills Hotel, Chandigarh during the sparkling Wise Owl Awards Function.
Thanks to The Wise Owl Team.
