Recite them;
They’ll embrace you in a cosy warmth

They’ll embrace you in a cosy warmth
…….
They’ll paint a rainbow
on your blank sky.”
Says the poet in his very first poem [To an unwilling Reader of Poetry p 9]
And he
does succeed in embracing us in a cosy warmth, by
his powerful imagery, painting the vibrant hues of the rainbow, and
effortlessly making us a part of his inner sojourn, his passions, his dreams,
and fears. One’s ears are tuned to the soft,
soothing undertones of his poems, a magical cadence that flows from the myriad
layers –pain , pathos , ecstasy, sensuality , romance and the different
‘shades of love’ [51] where he pours out his heart to his beloved, talking of
music , melody and magic, their years of warm togetherness and of her eloquent silence:
“Do you know
There are moments
When your silence is so eloquent
And at other, your eloquence
Has a silencing effect on me
Like the autumn winds
On the leafy- virgin- forest?”[P 55]
This slim book of poems, with its mystical sensibilities, its philosophical underpinnings, its reference to mythology and classicism and its sensuality, leaves one with a lingering aftertaste which has the power of enriching a mundane world, as his is a language of the heart which appeals to all.
This is a book which all lovers of poetry will love to possess.
Authors Press, Delhi, has indeed done a commendable job, once again with the cover, so much so, that one can almost hear the undertones of the subdued hues of the beautiful cover .Hats off!
