Dedicated to the poet's mother and grandmother , who inspired her 'to see the beauty and feel the pain all around', Meanderings of the Mind, published by Partridge , India , and written by  Sudeshna Mukherjee is a gorgeously slim volume of  of 34 poems, spreading across 50 pages of a beautifully designed book .
In this delectable book  , she poignantly talks of 'gargoyles gnawing away at peace and calm'[ p 46], the beggar girl waiting everyday at the signal , of of the Paris Attack [p 38]p 41 , of memories, of Solitary Confinement , of mind games ,of Deception ,of Footfalls , of Dissatisfaction , of The Mob, and The Portrait of a Villain , of Duality , of Immortality , of The Smoking Cauldron [p 39] which brews a murky and lewd potion of atrocities and massacres.

To use the poet's words, in a different context , I found the book to be a 'melodious , tinkling song' with many notes , running the whole gamut of life- the highs and lows, the hot and cold , the serious and also the humorous . I  loved her  poems , 'Cold in the air' [pp 43- 44] and Growing Old [p 35] for their  rollicking , satirical humour and The Dirge [p 41] for a very sensitive depiction of the lows of life ,
'Your tune is off-key
Your song is hackneyed
No one listens to your oft- repeated
Allegorical moan'
A lovely read for all poetry lovers .
