OH HARK 32
Before they could flee, the woman turned
She stoked the fire and lustily it burned.
On her side sat a rusty cat brown
Looking around with a Mephistophelean frown.
She grabbed a branch and pulled it down.
Her eyes shot reprimands at the cat brown.
Under a tree frantically confabulated a group
A man with a stoop sat repairing a chicken coop.
Her eyes fell at the trio and she looked astonished .
At the poet all her attention she lavished .
On unsteady legs towards him she walked.
In wide eyed wonder, the drummer gawked.
Did she look at him with cannibalistic ferocity?
The poet smiled at the idea's incongruity.
In the bushes there was a swirl of activity
They gaped, appalled at the woman's rotundity.
Her yellow teeth were notched like a saw
It looked as though she could eat humans raw.
With bloodshot eyes , at them she stared
Eyes refusing to leave the poet long haired .
Suddenly the carpet of dry leaves stirred
In panic utter, hidden in the tree fluttered a bird.
Now emerged a man, intimidating in his haberdashery.
In his three piece suit was he some actor legendary?
The brown rusty cat walked away in contempt
Mewling derisively at the trio unkempt
A robust dog towards the poet bounded
The drummer's eyes in terror rounded .
With one mighty sweep of a hefty arm
She pulled the poet away from canine harm
On spindly legs the drummer stood, muscles taut
On the horns of a dilemma was the javelin man caught.
The cat reappeared seething with malevolent intent
Were they caught among gangsters grandiloquent
Or were they merely pranksters delinquent
Thought the drummer , with fear , eyes eloquent.
Said she"silly cat, come on sheath your velvet claws
And yes, you two, I know all your fads and flaws."
like an unwieldy ship ,onward she cruised
Ignoring the drummer battered and bruised.
Her rotund body shaking with sighs.
And open admiration spilling from her eyes
On wobbly legs the poet she neared .
And a calloused hand ran through his beard.
She purred, "ah , I have waited for you for so long
You look famished, there goes the dinner gong.
Let me see what is on the cards.
For starters, how about snakes' innards?"
